2011 Roundup
It was an exciting season. 7 Wrestlers went on to Regionals (Mason, Sam, Troy, Hans, Paul, Wes and Sully). Sam and Mason qualified for states - CONGRATS guys. Sam as a freshman placed at the states, the highest finish ever for a Reservoir Freshman (someone please correct me if I have the wrong)! We are set for our Banquet next week - you need to respond ASAP to Dan Rowell's email if you are planning to attend.
Looking forward the future is indeed bright. All of our regional and state qualifers are underclassmen. Several wrestlers are already beginning off season training. If you are interested in continuing to wrestle in the off season you are welcome to contact me. My son (Michael) concentrates on wrestling year round now and I have a good understanding of off season wrestling opportunities both during the spring and fall. Coach Dan is another excellent source of information for things like this.
What you can expect from the website during the off season. If your wrestler competes in the off season, provide me the results and I will highlight them here. In the coming weeks I expect to post some more Mrs. Beach pictures and some that I have from regionals as well.
On Friday and Saturday our wrestlers made us proud. We had 8 varsity county placers, including:
Mason Kilcarr - 1st at 113, First ever Glen Devane Most Outstanding Wrestler Award winner in school history
Sam - 1st at 138 and now the youngest County champ in school history
Troy Kilcarr - 3rd at 103 Hans - 3rd at 120 Paul - 3rd at 132 Wes - 4th at 145 Sully - 4th at 195 Beach - 5th at 152 All the wrestlers that placed 4th and better qualified for regionals to be held at Wilde Lake High School next Friday and Saturday. We will practice at Glenelg on Monday beginning at noon. We will practice at home on Thursday at 4:30. Stay tuned for other practice times and locations!!

Tuesday January 31st 2012 - It was senior night last night and the Gators won against Centennial. Several seniors ended thier home careers in style - Congratulations and thank you to all the senior wrestlers and their parents for supporting the Gator Wrestling Program. Among our departing seniors Connor Davis, Brian Beach and Brendan Herberger put an exclamation point on their time as Gators with wins and pins in their final home meet!!! Way to go guys. Tonight Reservoir faces another tough opponent traveling to Meade! Our Gators finished 8-3 in the county coming in 4th place. Overall our record (I believe) is 14 - 7. (WOW - a BIG thank you to wrestling mom Mrs. Beach check out her wrestling photos' - uploading still in progress and I have hundreds to upload - I'm on my third batch - but they are great!)
SHORT HANDED GATORS SPLIT AT DUAL WITH A LOSS TO RIVERHILL AND A WIN OVER HOWARD AT HOME ON SENIOR NIGHT
On Tuesday January 24th the Gators beat Howard and lost to Riverhill. We wrestled well against Riverhill. Always a hard team to beat, it's hard to say our absent wrestlers would have made the difference in the loss, but it would have made it that more interesting. Congratulations to Riverhill who lead the county with a perfect 10 - 0 record and can wrap up the County Regular Season Championship with a victory against under-manned Long Reach team later this evening.
On Saturday 14th of December, the Gators took third out of 16 at the Grapple @ the Brook meet at Springfield. Visiting Cape Henelopen (DE) took first, followed by host Spring Brook and then our Gators. Mason Kilcarr took first place, Joe Quattrone, Hans Wicklein, Seth Rowell and Michael Sullivan all took 2nd place. Both Connor Davis and Pedro Iarrate placed as well. Great Job Gators! Mark Collabucci and Bubba Mullens showed up to root on the Gators. Thanks to the old Reservoir wrestlers for stopping by - it is always motivating for current wrestlers to have you show up.
On Tuesday January 10th the Gators beat Atholton and lost to Glenelg. There were several great matches in the loss to a strong Glenelg squad. Following the loss, the Gators gamely overcame a couple of forfeights to beat Atholton. Lots of old Gators showed up to support the 2011 squad. I don't know all of them by name, but Josh Howard, Seth Rowell, Matt Herlihy, and I believe Taylor Simms. I'd like to share who else was there if anyone cares to volunteer others they saw. (Pictures will be added in a few days).
GATORS LOSE TO A STRONG STEPHEN DECATAUR TEAM
On Saturday January 7th, Stephen Decataur visited Reservoir. A strong Stephen Decataur proved too much for our Gators.
GATORS REGAIN COUNTY MOMENTUM WITH A VICTORY OVER
MT. HEBRON
There were plenty of great wins tonight 1/03/2012. Congrats to the entire team who wrestled hard. More details will be posted once I get hold of the box score. At this home meet plenty of old Gators were on hand. Mr. Colabucci was there and provided missing information for the individual honors page!
Gators had a strong outing at the Cougar Classic Duals on December 29 & 30th. Overall the Gators went 6 - 2 and came in third. Reservoir moves their dual record to 10 - 4 overall.
Against a tough Oakland Mills team, the short handed Gators lost a tough match on Tuesday December 27th. The Gators moved to 4 - 2 overall and a 4 - 1 record in Howard County Duals. Long Reach visited Reseveroir tonight, Tuesday December 20th. The Gators won by a large margin due to a number of pins and the fact that Long Reach has a number of gaps in it's lineup. The Gator's moved to 4 - 1 overall and 4 - 0 in Howard County duals. (Pictures from South River and Long Reach)
GATORS FALL TO SOUTH RIVER - 22 to 45
On Monday December 19th the Gators traveled to South River for an out of county Dual. The Gators wrestled hard but came up on the short end this time. The Gators are now 3 - 1 for the year. Win's included Troy Kilcar, Sam Rowell, Wes Beattie, Michael Sullivan and Pedro Iriarte.
TITAN THUNDER TOURNAMENT
![]() Reservoir Wrestlers did well at the Titan Thunder Tournament. I hope to post the full results in the coming days. Congrats to all the boys, everyone wrestled well and worked hard!! Mason Kilcar took 2nd, Troy Kilcar placed 3rd, Sam Rowell and Michael Sullivan were 4th, Joe Quattrone and Paul Quattrone finished 6th in their respective weight classes. The Gators finished in 9th place out of 18 teams - a great showing for a team with no wrestlers with more that one full season of varisty experience!! See photo's here!
The Gators won both Matches at Marriots Ridge on Tuesday night. First they won a close match against a talented Wilde Lake team and then were able to top host Marriots Ridge! Way to go Gators!
In a hardfought match the Gators Varsity team ultimately came out on top with a 40 to 24 win over a tough Hammond team on Tuesday December 6, 2012. The JV squad won by a sizeable margin. Congratulations to the team and coaches. We are on our way. Check out some photo's of the match. |
