2012 Preseaon Training Opportunities - Update 8/30/2012

If anyone wants to begin preparing for the high school training there are a number of opportunities nearby and accross Maryland that can definitely help you become a better wrestler......fast.

FOUR LOCAL CLUBS

Brandon Lauer at River Hill runs the Penguin Wrestling Club. The club starts on Tuesday September 4th and runs Tuesday and Thursday evenings. More info here!
Luke Palumbo and Ryan Herwig run the Blue Claw Wrestling Clug. The club starts the fall schedule on Monday September 10th and runs Mondays and Wednesdays. More info click here!
Jay LaValley runs the Kolat Wrestling Club in Cockeysville Maryland (A drive but worth it!) The club has already started it's fall program. More info including the calendar click here!
Andrew Lacroix runs the Atticus Wrestling Club (no website it's just starting up) and is very close by.

           When: Monday and Wednesday
           6:30pm to 8:30pm
           September 5th to November 12th

           Where: Saint Vincent Pallotti High School - Wrestling Room
           113 Saint Marys Place
           Laurel, MD, 20707

           Cost: $150.00 - Includes twenty weekday training sessions, plus an additional five weekend clinician sessions.
           This works out to only $6 per session if you attend all twenty-five sessions.

2012 Offseason News - Update 8/14/2012

Reservoir wrestlers continue to work on their skills over the summer. In mid July Mason Kilcarr and Michael Sullivan wrestled for the Maryland National Team at the 2012 Nationals in Fargo ND. Later in July, Sam Rowell and Mason Kilcarr traveled to Texas for the AAU Championships in TX.

With 11 returning varsity wrestlers and a number of talented JV wrestlers ready to move up to varsity Reservoir is well positioned to compete with anyone in Howard County. I understand that the Viper wrestling program continues to prepare future Gators. There are at least two accomplished Vipers moving up to Reservoir next year.

2012 Offseason News - June 14

Michael Sullivan is wrestling this week at the 2012 National Cadet Greco and Freestyle Duals in Daytona Florida. The Maryland squad beat their seed in Greco and came in 12 out of 23 teams. Michael had 8 wins and 1 loss. On to freestyle the rest of the week.

2012 Offseason News - May 20

Michael Sullivan competed in the North East Regional Championship at Bloomsburg PA, for Greco and Freestyle. He placed 1st in Greco and 2nd in Freestyle.

Congratulations to two Reservoir High School Wrestlers (Mason Kilcarr and Michael Sullivan) for significant off season accomplishments. On Saturday, May 12 Mason Kilcarr won the 126 lb Junior Division Maryland State Championships in Greco and Freestyle wrestling. Michael Sullivan also won the 195 lb Cadet Division Maryl

and State Championships in Greco and Freestyle. They are both eligible and planning to attend the USA Wrestling Greco and Freestyle championships in Fargo ND in July.

Congratulations boys. Your hard offseason work is paying dividends.

On other notes the wrestling team participate in Freshman orientation and saw lots of interest in the wrestling program from kids who will come into Reservoir next fall.

2011/12 Roundup

It was an exciting season. 7 Wrestlers went on to Regionals (Mason, Sam, Troy, Hans, Paul, Wes and Sully). Sam and Mason qualified for states - CONGRATS guys. Sam as a freshman placed at the states, the highest finish ever for a Reservoir Freshman (someone please correct me if I have the wrong)! We are set for our Banquet next week - you need to respond ASAP to Dan Rowell's email if you are planning to attend.

Looking forward the future is indeed bright. All of our regional and state qualifers are underclassmen. Several wrestlers are already beginning off season training. If you are interested in continuing to wrestle in the off season you are welcome to contact me. My son (Michael) concentrates on wrestling year round now and I have a good understanding of off season wrestling opportunities both during the spring and fall. Coach Dan is another excellent source of information for things like this.

What you can expect from the website during the off season. If your wrestler competes in the off season, provide me the results and I will highlight them here. In the coming weeks I expect to post some more Mrs. Beach pictures and some that I have from regionals as well.

Finally, I would like to recognize our seniors for their leadership and contribution to Gator Wrestling over the years. Pedro Iarate, Conner Davis, Brian Beach, Brian Lamm, Brendan Herberger, Michael Ponton. (others?)
